CHAPTER 15

COOPERATING WITH YOUR INNER WINDS

Once you have established a practice of praying, meditating, and grounding on a daily basis, you will be ready to call upon the inner winds for soul support and guidance.

It is important to remember that these beneficial winds have endured throughout history. My phenomenological research and group study have shown that these deities teach you how to cooperate with change, while not necessarily supporting your desired results.

The morning after the 2016 U.S. presidential election, upon learning the outcome, I went to my altar to pray for guidance. My community was in a deep shock. After praying, reflecting, and meditating, I pulled a winds of spirit card. It was Mari, the divine wind goddess of the Basque. The message was, “Know that you are held by the divine.” When Mari blows in from the caves of northern Spain, it is a signal that Shakti energy is omnipresent and flowing. She arrived as a soothing wind goddess from the south, to help me transcend my disappointment. The south is about needs, desires, and emotions. While I was studying her qualities earlier in the week, I realized that my vision was limited by my own desire for a woman in the White House. Even though I felt the populace ship was off course, I understood, that there were divine, invisible winds at play.

To put their power into perspective, these winds of spirit witnessed and participated in the creation of the earth hundreds of millions of years ago, long before the advent of human beings. These spirits have been working in the universe ever since the beginning of the earth’s timeline, when the first act of creation was caused by the movement of air. These wise winds of spirit have reappeared in today’s modern world. I believe they have arrived to assist humanity evolve into a higher state of existence, which the Vedic traditions call the Sai yuga.1 They are here to help us reestablish our divine connection with nature. This transition out of the darkness requires a massive shift in the collective human consciousness. The annihilation of old, worn-out ideas will create a fertile earth where we can plant spiritual seeds of truth. Working with these inner winds of spirit can provide you with inner peace no matter what storms may be brewing in the outer world.

Engaging the winds of spirit for personal healing is not for the faint-hearted, nor is it for those who want to remain sleeping. To put this concept into context, think back to a night when you were awakened by a vicious screaming wind. The branch tapping against your window represents the unceasing thought patterns that create turmoil in your consciousness. It is during those scary moments that you how learn to navigate or patiently wait out the storm. Once you step upon the path of awakening, you realize that the inner winds of spirit cannot be controlled. Their purpose is to offer you divine guidance and teach you how to cope with change.
